In 2010, KENNY INGRAM goes off to work (WALKIN’ UPTOWN) as a swing performer in a Broadway show. It’s a fictional family musical, set in Australia, with only animals as characters.  (Yes its a parody of the actual Broadway show where Kenny Ingram and Peter Candela met.) Kenny covers many of the animals, and while on stage , his mind wanders imagining himself becoming some of his Broadway idles in the restricted animal roles. (HI YA) After the performance , he goes to a local bar in Times Square to get his favorite cocktail, a Manhattan.  Kenny tells the bartender (a 4th wall character) that the cocktail color reminds reminds him of his Grandpa Boyd, who was a moonshiner. He would sell his special concoction of red wine and beer (SISTA, GET YOU READY) with his outrageous claim to help sell it.  Kenny then continues reminisce to the bartender, relating stories he heard growing up, about his family before he was born. (CROSS COUNTRY & WHERE ARE THE SIGNS?) Kenny then relates to an important time in his life as an adolescent. (AVOCADO) . Kenny now moves in a different direction. He imagines himself receiving some type of performance award, like a Tony, and contemplates who would he thank in his acceptance speech.  This opens a whole new section about his career path from the beginning of his love for the theater,  through the years as a performer. (A BEAUTIFUL THING 1-6)  Kenny then tells a true story after he came back from Europe, with a broken heart, only to have a potential fatal encounter if he ended up in a particular one-night stand.  (BOUNCING BACK) With death on his mind, this opens up to the final chapter of Kenny’s story, his battle with prostate cancer.  It begins with his stories of his brother Billy, (THE BALLAD OF BROTHER BILLY) a shining light amongst his 11 siblings, who was the first to succumb to the dreaded disease. From there we journey into Kenny’s own plight from prognosis (WALKIN’ SLOWLY), to all the various stages of the battle  (PROCEDURES) to the insane solutions, dealing with a certain complication after a prostatectomy back in 2010. (MISTA, GET YOU READY) Kenny then sums up the evening, paying tribute to his bloodline, and to the choices he has made throughout his life.  (GENERATIONS)
